Alliance Training Options

The Alliance offers the following four options covering a variety of educational and training opportunities:

Below is a general description of each option. If there is a program that interests you, be sure to check your eligibility.

                       Local Group Training

You can choose from a variety of Alliance training classes offered through your Alliance Local Committee (ALC) at or near your workplace. These classes reflect the needs you and your co-workers identified in surveys conducted by your ALC. To learn more about programs in your local area, click Local Group Training.

Distance Learning Programs

"The Alliance allows me to get to where I want to go in life.  The classes help me do my job better."

The Alliance offers a growing number of on-line and self-paced training options. You can upgrade your computer skills or plan your next career move without ever physically going to class. Distance Learning Programs are designed to give you greater flexibility in where and when you study. While they are not easier than group classes, they meet the needs of people who are remotely located, have second jobs or child care responsibilities - anyone whose schedule won’t allow them to attend group classes.

The Alliance Pre-Paid Tuition (PPT) Program

Alliance PPT funds education and training that enables you to expand your career opportunities within your current field or to develop skills related to a new career path. Alliance PPT funds pre-pay, and in some cases reimburse, tuition costs of classes/programs offered through accredited institutions. Alliance PPT is not the same program as your company’s Tuition Assistance Plan (TAP) with which you may be familiar. Select Alliance Pre-Paid Tuition to learn more about this program.

Dislocated Worker Options

If you are facing involuntary job termination The Alliance can help you get additional education/training tuition assistance and transition funding. You can take advantage of all the Alliance educational opportunities mentioned above as well as additional funding under the Funds for Alliance/ETOP Distribution (FAD/FAED) program. However, certain limits to eligibility and duration of eligibility apply depending on the termination option you exercised when leaving the payroll. Be sure to confirm your eligibility using The Alliance Eligibility Matrix. This matrix contains detailed information about the eligibility of employees in a variety of employment statuses. To learn more about options for employees who are  leaving payroll, or have left payroll,  click on Alliance Dislocated Worker Options.
